African businesswomen need ACCESS! Access to markets, access to training, and access to information and support.
This programme is for you, the African woman entrepreneur, if you have already attained a fair level of management competence and are an actual, emerging or potential exporter. By building your international trade skills, helping you to explore new frontiers, and providing access to practical advice and guidance, your chances for success will be greatly enhanced.
Training
A series of workshops introduces participants to the basic knowledge they need to do business in other markets.
Workshops are available in a variety of formats, depending on the country's implementation strategy.
For general information on ACCESS! training.
For information on ACCESS Training in your country, contact the ACCESS! Focal Point.
Mentoring
Selected workshop participants will have access to expert advice and guidance resulting in help with export plans, developing export price lists, or getting connected to sources of assistance. It is through practical application with real-life situations that women entrepreneurs learn best.
Dozens of practical exercises have been developed for use by women exporters to help them prepare themselves and their organizations for the world of international trade. These exercises can be used during ACCESS! workshops, during mentoring sessions with trainers or other professionals, or with the entrepreneur's management team.
On the Web
The ACCESS! web portal WomenExporters.com will be the most comprehensive source of export information, tools and assistance for African businesswomen pursuing international markets. The site will also provide an opportunity for companies to register their profiles and to promote their company’s capabilities online.
ACCESS! for African Businesswomen in International Trade is a regional technical assistance programme, executed by the International Trade Centre Geneva, and Trade Facilitation Office Canada, as part of their joint Programme for Building African Capacity for Trade (see below) funded by the Canadian International Development Agency.
The ACCESS! programme is available in five English-speaking countries - Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and four French-speaking countries - Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali and Senegal. ACCESS! is implemented locally in partnership with trade promotion organisations and other support institutions that have been selected as “ACCESS! Focal Points”.

PACCIA/PACT - ‘Programme for building African Capacity for Trade’ –
PACT is a joint programme of the International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO (ITC), in Geneva, and Trade Facilitation Office Canada (TFOC) of Ottawa, Canada. Funding is provided by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) under the Canada Fund for Africa.
Announced by the Government of Canada, at the Kananaskis G-8 summit, in 2002, the mandate of PACCIA/PACT is to “improve the capacity of African enterprises to do business internationally and promote their exports”.
This programme will help African countries expand their participation in the international marketplace, through targeted technical assistance projects, focusing particularly on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their support institutions.
